PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project at Colchester Garrison consitited of the replacement of 124 rooflights, 240m of gutter repairs, the replacement of 26 dektites and the fabrication and replacement of all barge boards.

We were originally tasked with replacing the original 124 discoloured and damaged rooflights and replace all the existing barge boards. Due to the make up of the roof being a secret fix twin skin it was only viable to replace the top skin section of each rooflight. After discussions with the client it was deemed the best approach to remove the top skin and clean the bottom skin before installing a new rooflight top skin.

Whilst completing the works we were asked to repair all the gutters which were found to be leaking. This was around 240 linear metres. Due to the gutters holding a lot of standing water we used a mobile water pump system in 3 locations to remove all the standing water. When this was clear all the gutters were cleaned thouroughly before installing the repair system. The system used gave a guarantee of 25 years.

Whilst working on the roof we also found a number of dektites around the flues were deteriorating badly and needed to be replaced. We were given the order to replace 26 dektites in total.

The new barge boards were fabricated in our own fabrication yard to the requirements, delivered to site and installed.

The project was fully completed in around 10 weeks and the made a huge impact to the light levels in the unit.
